In December CC-Lab were commissioned by Playstation via their media agency Mindshare, to make five viral films to support the launch of a new version of their hugely successful Guitar Hero game.

The films featured two young men, Emos. Fans of emotionally oriented punk rock music — fringes, tattoos, badges, ear rings, glacial level of deadpan.

We only ever see them at work. In an office. They should be fired. Immediately. In any other world they would be. They do no work. Ever. However they are magically protected from all consequences. That protection seems to be come from their untouchable attitude. They are completely immune to the world around them because they simply don’t give a shit about anything and you can’t make them. This gives them super human powers over everyone they come into contact with including each other.

It is their genius and they have used it to protect themselves whilst they concentrate on elevating wasting time to the precincts of high art. Their weapons grade levels of boredom find expression in a running battle for status between the two of them. They compete for status over anything and everything. Over a spoon. That competition often results in massively disproportionate strategies.

All five films films featured two up and coming comedy actors, Sam Spedding and Nick Tanner, were produced by Steve Butterworth, written and directed by Piblo Kickasso, edited by Matt “The Scissors” Garner, with commissioned music written and performed by Tim Phillips.

The films were shown on Playstation, Guitar Hero 2, MTV and several other gaming websites and can also be seen on YouTube, Google Video, Metacafe, iTunes Store.
