The fifth year of the BT Digital Music Awards was its second year on TV, this year coming from the newly restored Roundhouse in Camden in London.

To build on the success of last year’s programme which focused on the digital music scene, Channel 4 and BT once again asked CC-Lab to produce coverage of this year’s awards, and to capture the growth in stature and scale of the awards as they moved to the Roundhouse. This year we produced a short roundup programme, a full hour long documentary, and an item for new show Freshly Squeezed.

Alex Zane returned to host the programme, which featured coverage of the awards, and performances from the awards show by Lorraine, Captain, Nate James, Sandi Thom, Plan B and Lil Chris. A new element this year were two packages focusing on the story of the past year in digital music, which included coverage of this year’s award winners. Further documentary packages looked at the changing nature of the music industry, and the emergence of new tools to filter through the huge amount of new music to discover tracks which are uniquely right for you.

The show featured interviews with OK Go, the Mystery Jets, Young Knives and Steve Lamacq.

A 15’ programme was broadcast in the week of the awards covering the main winners, with an hour long programme TXing a week later.

CC-Lab’s in house studio created a 3D graphical world which featured the award categories and featured throughout the title sequence and packages.
