Bestival 2006
CC-Lab returned to Bestival to produce two one hour specials, one of which was sponsored by Jack Daniels, for Channel 4 in the UK.
Channel 4 commissioned CC-Lab to produce two hours of coverage from this year’s Bestival, with the first hour a music special sponsored by JD Set and the second hour featuring the Scissor Sisters, to form part of a special weekend of programming on the channel.
The first part of the Bestival programmes focused on music, with performances and interviews focusing on the unique and eclectic line up of the festival. The second programme featured the Scissor Sisters enjoying the festival, including Jake Shears marrying himself in the Big Love Inflatable Church, and performances.
This year CC-Lab increased its coverage, with up to six cameras covering performances on the main stage. These cameras were cabled to a director’s position at the side of stage allowing better coverage of performances. As we only had a week to turn around the shows, we had two editors and three digitising stations onsite, all connected to an Editshare.
Back at CC-Lab two additional editsuites were brought online to complete the shows. All editing, grading and onlining were completed in house at CC-Lab.
The director was Kieran Evans, the producer Frank Lampen and the executive producers Justin Rees and Jason Hocking.
The programmes were well received by many of the festival goers posting on the Bestival message board, with one fan commenting “the images and words captured and summed up exactly what this festival is all about”.
